Terms and Conditions: effective from 30/3/2024 ​

Describo Desktop ​

  1. You are free to use Describo Desktop on any platform that it supports. If you uncover any issues with the application please create an issue in the issue tracker.
  2. THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.

Describo VueJS and React components ​

  1. You are free to use the Describo VueJS and React components in your applications subject to their licenses. The components are licensed permissively with the MIT license. You can read the licenses at:

Describo Cloud ​

If you are found to be in breach of any of the following terms and conditions you will lose access to the service, any credits that you have purchased and no refund will be provided. You may also be reported to the relevant authorities in your jurisdiction. ​

  1. All data that you send to the describo cloud and that we then send onto our service providers remains your property unless your data doesn't meet the acceptable use policies of our service providers. If your data are flagged for trust and safety review, our providers may use or analyze that data to improve their ability to detect and enforce Acceptable Use Policy violations, including training models for use by their trust and safety teams.

  2. To use the describo cloud capabilities (text extraction, named entity recognition and assistant) you:

    • must subscribe to the service with a valid, work or personal email address that must be verified;
    • must purchase credits for the capabilities you wish to use. See the Pricing Page for more information;
    • accept that your data will sent to the describo cloud and then onto the service providers used to provide the capabilities;
    • accept that pricing for the capabilities may change at any time and without notice though this will not affect any credits you have already purchased;
    • guarantee and assert that you have the rights to any data that you process through the service and accept all responsibility for any disciplinary action taken by us or our service providers in relation to your use of the services;

  3. You guarantee that you will not use the services to:

    • engage in any form of illegal activity;
    • handle any kind of child sexual exploitation or abuse content and acknowledge that we and / or our service providers will report you to the relevant authorities;
    • provide legal, medical or financial advice;
    • promote, create or distribute:
      • abusive or fraudulent content;
      • deceptive or misleading content;
      • psychologically or emotionally harmful content;
      • sexually explicit content;
      • violent, hateful or threatening content;
    • engage in:
      • any political campaining or lobbying;
      • covertly tracking, targeting or surveilling of individuals;
      • social scoring;
      • criminal justice decisions;
      • automated determination of financing eligibility of individuals;
      • automated determination of employment and housing decisions;
      • any law enforcement application;

  4. When using the assistant, provided that you meet the requirements of these terms and conditions, the prompts that you provide (ie your queries) and the outputs received remain solely your property. All right, title and interest to the prompts and the outputs is transferred from our service provider directly to you. Further - you:

    • acknowledge that the outputs may not always be accurate even if they appear to be;
    • acknowledge that it is your responsibility to confirm the accuracy of the outputs from the assistant;
    • acknowledge that the outputs may not reflect correct, current or complete information;
    • acknowledge that any outputs do not represent the views of the operators of the describo cloud or its service providers.

  5. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE SERVICE PROVIDERS (DESCRIBO CLOUD OR UPSTREAM SERVICE PROVIDERS) OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SERVICE.
